Trainspotting is set in the middle of the 90s in Edinburg and centers around Renton. Renton is a young man trying to choose the right path in life. Fairly early in the movie Renton starts questioning his heroin addiction. He tries to quit the drugs, “choosing life” he calls it. Renton lives in close contact with his fiends Sick Boy, Spud, Tommy and Begbie. When Renton meets Diane at a nightclub his will to improve his life becomes stronger. Old habits die hard though.
Trainspotting is a film about friedship, love, philosophy and drugs. The movie immediately draws you in with its music, twisted humor, storytelling and amazing characters. The film is directed by Danny Boyle. The main cast is made up of Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald. Many of them broke through with their roles in this movie. The first Trainspotting came out in 1996. A sequel was announced 20 years later and in 2017 T2 Trainspotting 2 made it to the big screen.
