Star Wars was created by George Lucas and his company Lucasfilm Ltd LLC. It all started in 1977 with Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. It was followed by Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983). These three movies were all box office hits and soon became some of the most populat movies ever. Episode 4-6 would from here on be known as the Original Trilogy. 1999, 2002 and 2005 came Episode 1-3, a prequel trilogy telling the story of what led up to the 1977 movie A New Hope.

There have also been two free standing movies conecting the adventures of earlier films; Rogue One – A Star Wars Story (2016) and Solo – A Star Wars Story (2018).
