The Lion King is the last classicaly animated Disney Classics feature film. It arrived in theaters in 1994, one year after Aladdin. As Lion King became a huge hit for Disney and has continued to be popular among fans a remake was made and released in 2019. The new version is computer animated so it’s a completely new look. Which one is ones favourite is a matter of taste as they are both very well made. Aside from its animation the Lion King movies are also praised for their music, which is made by Elton John, Hans Zimmr and Beyonce among others.
The story is about the circle of life on the African Pride Lands. The lion cub Simba is born to succeed his father Mufasa, the king of the lions as well as all of the animals in their kingdom. Unfortunately Mufasa’s brother Scar is bitter for not being king, and that means that Simba has competition from day one. Besides the family of Simba we also get to know his childhood friend Nala, the warthog Pumbaa, the meerkat Timon and the not so friendly hyenas that compete with the lions for power in the Pride Lands.
