Dirty Dancing from 1987 is written by Eleanor Bergstein and directed by Emile Ardolino. It centers around the young woman Frances “Baby” Houseman played by Jennifer Grey that falls in love with dance teacher Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) during a summer camp with her family. The movie takes place in the summer of 1963.

Dirty Dancing was not a high budget movie, only arounf 6 million dollars. Despite this the film became a major success when it hit the movies in 1987. It became an even bigger hit when coming home to VHS, being the first release to sell over one million copies on home video. Dirty Dancing has a unique tone and it gives such a nice portrait of the summer camps that were so popular in the 60s. The dance scenes, the music, story and acting were all amazing and they all contributed to the success of Dirty Dancing.
